HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Montour High School in Pittsburgh, PA (1961-1965).
Played football, basketball, and track. Lettered all three years in all
sports. Team won two consecutive WPIAL High School Class A
Championships. All-State end and schools first high school All-
American in 1965. Played in Big 33 high school All-Star game
Against Texas in 1965 and hold record for number of receptions.
COLLEGE: Attended The Pennsylvania State University (1965-1969).
Lettered varsity football three years. Named All-East and All-
American junior and senior year. Penn State's first "two time"
All-American in any sport. Fourth runner up for the Heisman
Trophy in 1968. Inducted into The National Football Foundation's
College Football Hall of Fame in 1989. Member of the Gator Bowl
Team in 1968 and Orange Bowl Team in 1969. Played in "Hall of
Fame" Bowl and Senior Bowl in 1969. Member of Sports
Illustrated's "Team of The Century" named in 2000.
PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL: Played Tight End in the NFL for 9 seasons. First
Round draft choice of the San Francisco 49ERS in 1969. All-Pro
Tight End. Played in three Pro Bowls (1971, 72, and 73). Played
for the Oakland Raiders for three seasons (1975, 76, and 77).
Member of the Oakland Raiders 1976 "Super Bowl Team"
where the Raiders beat the Minnesota Vikings for the World
Championship.
Inducted into the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame in
2005.
